Sharing with you projects that I learned in my Anita Goodesign Workshop in Tucson. The embroidery machine I used was a PR1000e and the white shirt was created back at home on a PR650. You will see a quilt square made in the hoop; lamb applique with crinkly stabilizer to give texture to the body and metallic gold thread; cutwork with applique using water soluble stabilizer; dinner napkins with border and monogram; and a tea towel with the apples trim. Today I made the white shirt and dressed it up with the rose floral embroidery. Roses are very popular this season.

Coming Soon: I plan on embroidering a colorful design for a denim jacket back.

It’s been a busy month and I’ve been stitching out some new designs. These designs are great for an upcoming engagement, wedding, Valentine’s day, a new baby. The grapes would look great on an apron, bag, or kitchen towel. The birds can look great on pillow cases or towels. The baby carriage is great for a baby blanket.

It all starts with a beautiful design and then depending on the purpose, can be stitched onto apparel or accessories.

Baby cap and organic blanket

New items which were exciting for me to work on this week.

These two items are for a special someone expecting their first baby and I wanted to share them with you all too. The cap is made for an infant and the thermal blanket is made from 100% Certified Organic Cotton. The blanket is so soft. The cap comes in pink and navy.

To make the blanket an heirloom piece, we can add the baby’s birth date and name of baby.

Baby things are so adorable. Can’t wait to photograph the newborn in their apparel.

Initial Towels in Blue

The 100% cotton royal blue pantry towel is embroidered with a beautiful initial. These towels were bought from Williams-Sonoma and then stitched as intricate lacy looking embroidery. What’s great about these is the softness with every wash and it holds the embroidery well. They also have a loop for hanging.

Embroidery like this can be placed on many types of towels: bath, kitchen, spa, golf, pillows and sheets too.

Going Greek in apparel

Royal Blue and Greek go great together in this sweatshirt and sweatpants. For this client a greek flag was embroidered on the side of the pant leg and the sweatshirt is embroidered with a famous saying “Molan Labe” translated as “Come and take them.”

It comes from history about the Battle of Thermopylae. King Leonidas leads 300 brave spartan soldiers in battle against the Persians, an army of one million. The Spartans delayed the Persians for 3 days, long enough for Athens to be evacuated and its army readied for battle.

The phrase is used today by Americans who believe in the 2nd Amendment and in the freedom, “The right to keep and bear arms.”

The sweat top and bottoms can be ordered through me and custom embroidered with one of your favorite expressions too.

Bed and Breakfast Towels

I wanted to share with you my latest customer order to digitize and embroider onto beautiful white organic towels and soft blue cotton pantry towels. The first step is to take the original artwork and size it exactly as it will appear on the towels. The decision is based on the stitch type and width of satin and fill stitches. The logo is detailed with thick and thin lines and based on embroidery guidelines for stitch length, the finished size was decided upon. I was so excited to create the digitizing using my embroidery software and then translating the file into stitches. The towels are so soft and gorgeous and while a bit tricky to embroider on the organic textured towels, wasn’t impossible with the proper stabilizer. I used Floriani’s Perfect Stick in the hoop and Stitch and Wash as a second stabilizer floating underneath.

What a great way to brand a business and make a great impression.

Apron with Heart, Greek Flag

As the Greek festival approaches, I was thinking of Greek embroidery designs. I made an apron in the traditional blue color and an embroidered heart of the Greek flag. I also made a few more designs that can also work well on an apron or tshirt. I’ll definitely be wearing one of the designs at the festival.

“Greek Chick” — I’m thinking my daughter will love this one on a pair of jeans or jean skirt.
“Peace, Heart, Spartan head armor” — I love the simplicity of the three icons, and the symbolism which goes with the Greek expression MOLON LABE. (Μολὼν λαβέ), “Come and take them” spoken by King Leonidas I in response to the Persian army’s demand that the Spartans surrender their weapons at the Battle of Thermopylae.
The other Greek flag design includes typography and has a nice rhythm to it.
